My Web log here

Will be very interesting check the spatial correlation between the WMAP data and the Planck Reference Sky.

I make some scatter plots: WMAP versus Planck Reference Sky in the pixel space for all sky maps. You can see these plots on the first column.

After that I focused into the galactic plane. I make the scatter plot using just the galactic cut [+-5 deg] and I calculated the correlation of this two set of data. I found also a renormalization between the two sets of data, calculating a linear fit and imposing that the angular coefficient equal to 1.
In the second column I plotted the WMAP data versus Planck Reference Sky maps renormalized [both into the galactic plan].

In the following table I report the correlation coefficient and the parameter of the fit.

Correlation and parameters of linear fit y=a+bx
band correlation a b
k 0.84 0.84 0.54
ka 0.80 0.45 0.53
q 0.78 0.33 0.53
v 0.80 0.20 0.60
w 0.88 0.14 0.76
